Katherine Heigl smokes an Electronic Cigarette while taking a film break on the set of One For The Money on Thursday (July 15) in Pittsburgh, Penn. And Leonardo DiCaprio has also been seen enjoying Electronic Cigarettes

The 32-year-old electronic cigarette smoker will portray Stephanie Plum, an unemployed lingerie buyer Stephanie Plum who becomes a bounty hunter to make ends meet.

The flick is being helmed by Julie Anne Robinson, who directed on-and-off-screen couple Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth in The Last Song.

Katherine is wearing a pair of Levi’s Mid-Rise Straight 552’s in Black Sheen.

Leonardo DiCaprio indulges in a short e-cigarette break while out with some pals in New York City. And Katherine Hiegl has also been seen enjoying E-Cigarettes

34-year-old Leonardo DiCaprio was seen biking through Manhattan’s East Village with his fellow helmet-wearing actor pals — Lukas Haas, Tobey Maguire and Kevin Dillon.

Leo was seen puffing away at another e-cigarette while grabbing Chinese food with some friends in Los Angeles. He was wearing his favorite FAU cap and has said about it, “I have no idea [why I wear it] but I love baseball caps! This is the real reason I wear ’em: I just like the design and the pattern. People come up to me and say, ‘You went to FAU!’ Wait—this is Florida Atlantic University.”

Electronic cigarettes have ignited international debate over their health effects, after New Zealand researchers ruled the battery-powered inventions were safe.

Laugesen said...
"Basically, in all the testing that we did we did not find anything that would make them unsafe relative to other tobacco products," said Laugesen.

"Anybody can see they are much safer than tobacco and other regular cigarette products."

In New Zealand, the nicotine-free Elusion Electronic Cigarette brand is being heavily marketed and consists of a liquid cartridge, battery and a heating element.

Packets can be bought with apple, chocolate, vanilla or coffee flavoured cartridges, with a starter pack costing $89.50.

The cigarettes, known as e-cigarettes, are at the centre of a legal battle in the United States, with the Food and Drug Administration attempting to ban them from being imported into the country over safety concerns. Greek researchers have also called for more studies, saying in the British Medical Journal the information available is "very limited".

Meanwhile, a local anti-smoking group is hesitant to praise the new cigarettes, saying more research is needed and they do not encourage anti-smoking behaviour.

However, Kiwi researcher Dr Murray Laugesen said concerns about safety were unfounded.

Last year, Laugesen conducted in-depth research for Health New Zealand on one brand of e-cigarette, Ruyan, and said he found nothing to be "immediately concerned about".

The stainless-steel devices look and taste like cigarettes - even giving users a 'hit' of fine vapour - with the aim of enticing people to quit the habit.

They are available over the internet and in some supermarkets, are rechargeable, and come either as nicotine-free or with a small amount of nicotine.

Even e-cigarettes which contained a small amount of nicotine were relatively safe, said Laugesen. There was about one-tenth as much nicotine per puff compared to a normal cigarette.

TVNZ - Want to Quit Smoking - Try Electronic Cigarettes

On the Television New Zealand breakfast show, we have a prime spot interview about Electronic Cigarettes.

Maori Affairs select committee chairman Tau Henare wants electronic cigarettes to be freely available to help those addicted to nicotine. Murray Laugesen, a public health researcher is the only person in the world who's done research into these e-cigarettes and says they're safe enough he'd let his kids smoke them.

Auckland University says E Cigarettes are good!

Smoking - the social habit

Yes, smoking a traditional cigarette is addictive due to the nicotine. But the act of drawing on a cigarette, having something in and out of your mouth, and the social and business time you have with colleagues while smoking - all these are addictive as well, yet not bad in themselves.
